WILKES-BARRE — She did it.

A Luzerne County jury this morning convicted 81-year-old Helen Galli on all charges that she intentionally poisoned her son’s girlfriend in 2010.

Prosecutors charged Galli with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment in the case in which prosecutors say she laced Dawn Simyan’s juice drink with antifreeze, causing her kidneys to begin shutting down.

In his closing argument yesterday, defense attorney Joseph Sklarosky Sr. suggested Dawn Simyan tried to kill herself to get attention from Victor Galli because she was jealous he was so close to his mother.

Assistant District Attorney Frank McCabe argued Wednesday that it is not logical to believe Simyan would poison herself.

Galli is free on bail pending sentencing on Dec. 5.
