WILKES-BARRE — The death of a 2-month-old boy at a South Washington street house on Sunday has been ruled a homicide.

Wilkes-Barre EMS responded to 351 N. Washington St. about about 8:51 a.m. Sunday to tend to a 2-month-old boy “in medical distress,” city police said Tuesday night.

Wilkes-Barre paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for treatment.

Upon arrival at the hospital, staff continuously worked on the infant, who stopped breathing. Attempts to resuscitate the boy were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday and the death was ruled a homicide, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Wilkes-Barre Detective Division and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Wilkes-Barre Police at 570-826-8106.
