WILKES-BARRE — A man suspected of robbing the Hazle Mart store at Blackman Street and Hazle Avenue and eluded capture by running through a department store in Edwardsville was apprehended by City Wide Towing proprietor Bob Kadluboski Wednesday night.
Kadluboski said he detained at gunpoint Peter Naperkowski, 36, at a residence on Andover Street just after 9 p.m.
City police had been searching for Naperkowski since he allegedly robbed the store on Oct. 7. A clerk said Naperkowski was armed with a black handgun.
Naperkowski entered the store and told the clerk: “I don’t wanna hurt anyone, buddy. Please I don’t wanna hurt you!” according to the criminal complaint.
Naperkowski fled the store and jumped in a vehicle driven by Tarra Yablonski, the complaint says.
Yablonski told police Naperkowski called her for a ride so they could pick up heroin, according to the complaint.
Yablonski said she drove for a few minutes and told Naperkowski to get out. She drove to Kmart in Edwardsville where Naperkowski ran out of her vehicle and into the department store exiting through a rear emergency exit.
Naperkowski is facing two counts of robbery, and one count each of theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
