Janet Tierney Skerkoski, 89, a resident of West View Manor, Wyoming, died
Friday at the Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn in Pittston, she was the
daughter of the late Michael and Cecilia Tierney.
She resided on Linden Street, West Pittston, until 1996.
Before retiring, she was employed by Main Pants, West Pittston, and FW
Woolworth Co., Pittston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1977; a daughter, Janet
Kakaty, in 1989; brothers Joseph and John; sisters Helen McCormik, Alberta
Tierney, Anne Tkach, Cecelia Alpaugh and Ruth Manley.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Adrienne Kakaty, Totowa, N.J.; sisters Mary
Helm, Wyoming; Grace O’Malley, Pittston; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the H. Merritt Hughes
Funeral Home, 211 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Church and William Streets,
Pittston.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John the
Evangelist Church, Church and William Streets, Pittston.
