Federal, state grants will fund improvements

The borough has been awarded $56,725 in Community Development Block Grant
money.
Of that, $30,000 of the federal grant will be used to fund drainage work on
the upper end of Charles Street. The borough will use the remaining $26,725 to
develop a recreation area at the lower end of Charles Street, Council
President Rosemary Sigmond said at a meeting Wednesday night.

The borough was also awarded a $60,000 state Community Revitalization
Grant. Although council has not decided on a use for the money, Sigmond said
it probably will help fund a new borough building or the Charles Street
recreation area.

In other business:

The borough contracted Ed Krasavage Construction to perform the demolition
of 199 Raub St. The Wyoming business offered the low bid of $6,875.
