Pilgrimage Group plans trip
    The Amelia Thomas Memorial Pilgrimage Group will visit the shrines in
Canada from June 11-16.
   
While in Montreal, the group will visit St. Joseph’s Oratory and Notre Dame
Cathedral as well as St. Ann de Beaupre and Our Lady of the Cape,
Cap-de-la-Madeleine.
   
A few bus seats are still available. For reservations or additional

Mother of the Year contest
   
The Catherine McAuley Center’s Special Events Committee is sponsoring a
Mother of the Year Contest for the year 2000.
   
To enter, compose a written or typewritten one page letter stating why your
mom should be Mother of the Year. Send it to: Catherine McAuley House, 121
Church St., Plymouth, PA 18651 or the Catherine McAuley Center, 709 Madison
Ave., Scranton, PA 18510. All entries are non-returnable.
   
All entries should include the following: name (person submitting the
entry), address and phone number. If the entry is part of a school project,
include the name of the school on the letter.
   
Entries must be postmarked no later than April 28.

Mother’s Day flower sale
   
The annual American Diabetes Association Mother’s Day Rose Sale is under
way.
   
A boxed dozen of long-stemmed red roses with baby’s breath and ferns is
$20.
   
A bouquet of four carnations, a red rose, pompoms, greens and babies breath
is $8, and a glass bud vase holding two red roses, baby’s breath and fern is
$6. Orders and payments are due by April 28.
   
Delivery of orders will take place on May 12. Orders of 10 or more, in any
combination, will be delivered free. Pickup arrangements can be made for
orders totaling less than 10. Orders must be pre-ordered and prepaid.
Volunteers are needed to assist with packing and delivery on the day of the
sale. Robert Madigan is chairperson of the event.

YATESVILLE
   
Benefit polka dance
   
The Polka Naturals Band will perform from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 30 at the
Trillo, Route 315, Yatesville.
   
The dance will benefit Kidsave International/World Links Inc. and the
Russian Children’s Charity summer miracles program.
   
Fifteen orphaned children from Russia, ages 6-11, will spend six weeks in
the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and Hazleton areas with host families, and will
attend a summer camp program.
