HUGHESTOWN — Pittston Area claimed its first Wyoming Valley Conference divisional title in field hockey on Friday after defeating Elk Lake 1-0.

The Patriots got a score from Alana Platukus at the 5:42 mark in the first half then held on for the victory. With the win, Pittston Area will now face Crestwood at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Crestwood in the District 2 Class 2A quarterfinals.

Hazleton Area 5, Wyoming Area 2

Behind two goals and one assist from Lauren Blakselee the Cougars picked up the win and Kara Sanford contributed two goals.

Bree Bednarski scored twice in the Warriors effort.

Meyers 1, Tunkhannock 0

Bri DiMaggio scored with less than five minutes left in the first half and the defense did the rest as the Mohawks defeated the Tigers.


Misericordia 116, Widener 89

Freshman Thomas Scott won three events while Brad Thomas won twice in the Misericordia win over Widener.

Pete Kolokithias, Nick Essington and Chris Gleason all added individual wins for the Cougars while Patrick O’Dell and Matt Cullen were part of the winning 200 medley relay.


Misericordia 117, Widener 88

Bree Grzech and Dani Blass combined for six wins to lead Misericordia over Widener.

Brittany Luzik was part of two relay wins for the Cougars.


St. Lawrence 3, King’s 0

Visiting St. Lawrence University handed the host team a loss in a non-conference matchup 25-4, 25-10, 25-17.

Sarah Busse had four digs while Katie Senunas, Tia Rex, Eboni Chase, and Aubrey Gryskiewicz all had three each for the Lady Monarchs.
