Pittston Memorial Library

Join the adult book club for a discussion of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic “A Christmas Carol” and light refreshments at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16. Copies of the book are available at the front desk. To register, call the library.

The Lego Club is at 4 p.m. every Monday. Children ages 5 and up are welcome.

Gingerbread House making for children ages 5 and up is at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16. Call the library to register.

The Science Club will meet at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19. Children ages 7 and up are welcome. Call to register.

The Crochet Club will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday6s and at 6 p.m. on Thursdays.

Cash in the new year through PA Unclaimed Property for Pa. residents with a seminar from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19. Reservations are required as space is limited. Call or email the library.

The Grandparents Support Sroup is held at noon on the fourth Monday of each month.

Black Lung: The Discovery, Uses and Stories of Anthracite Mining In Northeastern Pennsylvania by John “Dick” Zborovian is on sale at the Pittston Memorial Library for $14.99 with a portion of the proceeds going back to the library.

A Gingerbread House Party will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. All teens in grades 6-12 are invited to decorate their own gingerbread house. There will be snacks, music, candy and lots of icing. Registration is necessaryt. Call or email the library by Monday, Dec. 9 to sign up.

The Hangout Club, our teen book club, will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19. The book is “The Grimm Legacy” by Polly Shulman. Pick up a copy of the book at the desk. The club is for teens in grades 6-12.

Laflin Public Library

The Laflin Public Library is located at 47 Laflin Road, Laflin. Library hours are 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. To reach the library, call 570-654-3323.

Children visiting the Laflin Library Tuesday, Dec. 17 through Saturday, Dec. 21 will have an opportunity to make and take a holiday ornament.

In observance of upcoming holidays, the library will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 and reopen at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26. The library will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 and will reopen at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Children ages 6 and older are invited for an evening of making fun loop bracelets at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3. For more information or to register your child, call the library.
