The Pittston Active Adult Center is located at 441 N. Main St., Pittston. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, call the center at 570-655-5561.
Free coffee is served from 8:30 a.m. to closing. The center now has Wi-Fi available as well as three computers with Internet access.
Exercise classes are offered five days a week free of charge. Zumba Gold is held on Tuesday afternoons for a fee of $2 for members and $3 for non-members.
Dance class, cards, shuffleboard, ceramic classes, crochet club, Wii bowling, needlepoint and much more is offered at the center.
An eight-hour AARP Smart Drivers Course will be offered at the center at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25. Cost of this course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. By taking this course, you may be eligible to receive a discount on your car insurance. Pre-registration is necessary by calling the center at 570-655-5561.
The Christmas Special Dinner at the Center will be held at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 18 . A holiday raffle will be held at 11:30 a.m. The video from our Christmas 2012 Holiday Show featuring center members will be shown following dinner.
December birthdays will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 20. A birthday basket will be raffledbefore dinner to a member celebrating a December birthday. Winner must be present to win.
The 2014 Bowling League will begin on Friday, Jan. 24. A meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 to set up the teams and go over the rules. Bowling will be at Elko Lanes in Dupont and continue for 15 weeks. If you are interested in joining this league or would like further information, contact Connie Andrews at 570-655-5561 to register. A bowling dinner will be held following the completion of the league.
Falls Active Center
The Falls Active Center is located on Route 92 in Harding and is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone wishing to join the center for a hot meal at noon should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.
The Falls Active Adult Center members recently enjoyed a wool spinning demonstration by Cecily Roe who has been spinning and knitting for over 30 years.
The center invites anyone 50 and older to the following activities:
Monday: 10 to 11:30 a.m., Wii bowling competition with Tunkhannock Center; 1-2 p.m. Crocheting Club.
Wednesday:10 to 10:45 a.m., Walking group.

Wednesday, Dec. 18: 1 p.m., Christmas luncheon, including a sing along with the Jolly Seniors.
Tuesday, Dec. 31: New Years Eve lunch and party.
The center has started a book club which will meet from 12:45 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The book to be discussed is “One Thousand White Women” by Jim Fergus.
Jenkins Township Seniors
The Jenkins Township Senior Citizens’ organization will hold their annual Christmas Party on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Jenkins Township Fire Hall. President Jean Mudlock will preside at the business meeting after which members will enjoy a catered dinner. Bingo and the awarding of prizes will follow.
