WILKES-BARRE — A woman initially accused of conspiring with her husband to rape a teenage girl was charged Monday with the actual act.
City police allege Misty Machinshok, 32, participated in the sexual assaults by coaching and holding the girl while Gary Machinshok raped her, according to charges filed.
Misty Machinshok was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, spousal sexual assault by force, indecent assault, simple assault, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and two counts of aggravated indecent assault. She was arraigned Monday and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $250,000 bail.
Gary Machinshok, 28, is facing similar charges in Luzerne County Court. He remains jailed for lack of $200,000 bail.
Police initially charged Misty Machinshok on Jan. 7 with criminal conspiracy, alleging she was aware her husband was raping the girl inside their Park Avenue residence.
Police allege the couple planned to impregnate the girl because Misty Machinshok was unable to bear children.
Latest arrest papers say the couple explained their plan to the teen girl. After the girl gave birth, Gary and Misty Machinshok would adopt and raise the child as their own, according to the criminal complaint.
Misty Machinshok either sat in a chair or on the bed while Gary Machinshok raped the girl, or she would walk the girl to a bedroom where he would be waiting for her to engage in sexual intercourse, the complaint say.
A preliminary hearing on the latest charges is scheduled on Feb. 25.
