WILKES-BARRE — A 41-year-old city man reported he was pistol whipped and robbed early Saturday morning in the area of Puritan and Winter lanes.

The unnamed victim, who lives on North Washington Street, was highly intoxicated and had signs of a recent physical injury when officers located him at approximately 12:25 a.m., police said. The victim said two black males with dreadlocks assaulted him with a pistol and took his money and cigarettes, according to police.

The victim was unable to provide additional information at the scene and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation remains open, police said.
