WILKES-BARRE — A fire forced six people from a house on Horton Street where firefighters saved a pet dog late Monday afternoon.

Assistant Fire Chief Alan Klapat said firefighters responded to 352 Horton St. at 4:38 p.m. and remained on scene until just after 8 p.m.

Occupants of the house escaped without injury as firefighters saved a dog from the basement. The dog was administered oxygen outside the burning house.

Klapat said a total of six people are displaced due to the blaze.

The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing, Klapat said.
