WYOMING — A 19-year-old man was arraigned Monday on charges he assaulted his mother.

Dominic Joseph Divecchia, of Wyoming Avenue, was arraigned by District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.

Police allege Divecchia struck his mother in the face inside their residence at about 9:32 p.m. Sunday, according to the criminal complaint.

Divecchia was arrested when police found him at a playground on Butler Street.

Police allege Divecchia told a friend he was being arrested because he hit his mother, the complaint says.

Police said Divecchia’s mother had a large bruise on her face.
