Students at Ross Elementary School in Sweet Valley took a break from academics Friday to participate in the Race for Education fundraiser. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade brought in addresses to seek donations for the school’s Parent Teacher Organization. Melissa Lukavitch, secretary of the PTO, said nearly $7,000 has been collected from the fundraiser and more donations are coming in daily. Funds collected will be used to pay for field trips, materials for classrooms and assemblies throughout the school year Lukavitch said. This is the second time the elementary school held the fundraiser.
