EDWARDSVILLE — Police Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old man on charges stemming from allegations he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old child.

Court records show Luis Ortiz, who police said was originally from Edwardsville, was arrested on two counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and one count of corruption of minors by a defendant over the age of 18. All of the charges are felonies.

Ortiz was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Paul J. Roberts and lodged in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for failure to post $75,000 bail.
