WILKES-BARRE — Police say two local cab drivers were robbed and one shot and injured in separate incidents early Thanksgiving morning.
In a prepared statement, Wilkes-Barre city police said the first robbery happened shortly after midnight when a 41-year-old driver picked up two men on North Empire Street and drove them to the 400 block of Madison Street, where they robbed him at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.
In the second incident, police said, the 44-year-old victim had stopped around 1:50 a.m. to pick up a fare in the 800 block of North Washington Street when he was approached by three armed men who demanded money.
Police said one of the three men, all of whom were described as black and wearing hooded sweat jackets, shot the victim in the leg before they fled the scene.
Police didn’t say how much money the suspects made off with and say the investigations are still ongoing.
