FOSTER TWP. —A teenager was cited after he was involved in a crash after trying to miss a dear at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police say that Paul Eckert, 17, of White Haven was traveling northbound on Lehigh Gorge Drive when he encountered a deer in the roadway.

Eckert swerved to avoid the deer, which police say caused him to lose control of his vehicle. His vehicle then crossed over the double yellow lines, struck an embankment on the left side of the roadway and spun counter clockwise on its roof.

Eckert reportedly suffered minor injuries due to the crash, and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hazleton Hospital for treatment. Police say he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Eckert was cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for travel.
