WILKES-BARRE — A man accused of robbing a Turkey Hill at knife point is heading to higher court.
Jason Demski, 32, of Glen Lyon, appeared before Magisterial District Judge Martin Kane on Monday for a preliminary hearing. A felony robbery charge was waived to court, while a second robbery charge and a witness intimidation charge were dismissed.
Assistant district attorney Justin Paul Richards explained that, per a plea agreement, Demski is expected to plead guilty to the charge. If he does not, all charges will be brought back against him.
Demski is accused of stealing over $200 from the Turkey Hill on East Main Street Aug. 18. Police say Demski entered the store with a “thin object” in his hands, approached the counter and told the staff “let’s go, give me the money in three seconds or I will stab you with this.”
The employees then reportedly backed away from the register. Police say Demski then took $112 and allegedly demanded money from the clerk’s drawer.
In total, Demski allegedly left the store with $218.
A formal arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 12 in the Luzerne County Courthouse.
Demski remains jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
