SCOTT TWP. — Severe icy conditions were blamed for a multiple vehicle crash Tuesday morning around 4:10 in Interstate 81 northbound at mile marker 199.

According to Pennsylvania state police, the crash occurred as the highway conditions became severely icy.

Nine tractor-trailers and 2 passenger cars were involved in the crash, police said. Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
