DALLAS TWP. — Police announced Friday that six people have been arrested for their alleged roles in a drug-dealing ring involving students from Dallas Area High School and several local universities.

According to the Dallas Township Police Department, police arrested Penn State student Derek Gross, 19, of Watsontown; Kyle Joseph Solt, 20, of State College; Mason Michael Moore, 19, of Trout Run; and Alex Grayson Decker, 19, of PA Furnance, after serving a search warrant Thursday at the Penn State Nittany Apartments at 54 Nittany Drive, Lehman Township.

Police said two other men, Dallas High School student Andrew James Christman, 18, of Shavertown, and Misericordia University student Jared Harmon, 22, of Columbus, New Jersey, were aso arrested for selling drugs in Harveys Lake and Dallas Township.

As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, only Harmon and Grose had been formally charged.

Assistant Police Chief Doug Higgins said the arrests were the result of a joint investigation with Harveys Lake, Lehman Township and Kingston Township police, targeting a drug-dealing outfit he said was selling cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs and “shatter” — a concentrated form of marijuana that has the consistency of wax or sap and can give users a hard-hitting high.

Police affidavits filed with District Judge James E. Tupper in Trucksville indicate the arrests were the result of a sting operation that targeted both Grose and Harmon, from whom police informants allegedly made multiple controlled purchases of marijuana between April 17 and April 29.

According to the criminal complaints, both men contacted the informants through electronic means and agreed to meet at predetermined locations to exchange marijuana for cash. Once the exchange was made, the affidavits said, the informant relayed the purchases to officers, and identified the dealers were Harmon and Grose.

Arrest warrants also have been issued for two additional suspects, Higgins said.
