HAZLETON — A fugitive from justice was arrested on Friday in the 300 block of West Fourth Street.

According to a press release, police responded to the report of a robbery in progress at about 6:30 p.m.

Two officers stopped two individuals on 4th Street and Emerald Court and determined Manuel Lora, 18, was wanted by New Jersey State Police.

The New Jersey State Police had contacted the department earlier in the day requesting assistance in locating Lora, providing informational flyers that were distributed among officers.

No one was charged in regard to the robbery report.

“The officers involved took another criminal off of our streets,” said acting Police Chief Jerry Speziale. “I am proud of their hard work and dedication to making a safer city.”

Lora was arrested and is being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
