WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Police arrested Jeffrey Hawthorne, 30, and Unikqa Brown, 31, both of Bronx, New York, after they served a search warrant on a hotel room on Schechter Drive.

Police allege that during the search, they discovered that both Hawthorne and Brown were in possession of suspected marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Police said that during the search, Hawthorne tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody near the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Upon transporting Hawthorne and Brown to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, officers allegedly found suspected crack cocaine on the back seat of one of the police cruisers.

When Brown was searched inside the prison, officials allegedly discovered that she had concealed over 31 grams of crack cocaine inside a body cavity.

Both Hawthorne and Brown are charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance. Hawthorne is also charged with resisting arrest.

Police said that additional charges are pending against Brown.
