WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Kevin Green was enjoying a meal at Cracker Barrel with family and friends this morning when his dining experience was interrupted by a car crashing into the store attached to the restaurant.

Green, 39, said he saw the vehicle trying to pull into a handicapped parking space shortly before the crash happened. He added that it looked like the driver hit the gas instead of the brake.

“It scared the crap out of me,” he said. “We were sitting right next to it.”

Emergency crews responding shortly after 9:20 a.m. to the establishment on Highland Park Boulevard found the silver vehicle partially inside the front of the building.

Inside, merchandise and glass had been thrown around the store from the direct impact of the crash. Patrons were still enjoying their meals despite the crash, but a manager said the store likely would be closed.

The manager declined to comment further and referred a reporter to a corporate spokesman.

A firefighter said that a building inspector will be examining the building.

Green added that shortly before the crash, he saw an employee putting tags on the rocking chairs sitting outside of the building.

“A lot of people could have got hurt,” he said.

A police officer on the scene said that nobody was injured.
