Northeastern Pennsylvania just missed setting a record on Friday.

The day’s high temperature of 88 degrees, was just three degrees short of the all-time record, according to WNEP meteorologist Tom Clark. The record high of 91 degrees was set in 1908.

The average high for May 27 in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area is 73 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Clark said area residents can look forward to highs in the 80s on Saturday and Sunday with significant humidity.

Monday, he said, with a predicted high of 77 and decreasing humidity, will also bring some rain, which could affect Memorial Day festivities.
