WILKES-BARRE – Two men that broke into a residence on Spring Street on Wednesday were chased off by a resident armed with a household appliance, according to police.

Police said that at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the residence for a reported attempted break-in. Police allege two men continuously tried to gain access into the residence. After entering the residence, the two suspects were chased out by a man armed with a household appliance, according to police.

When outside, the two suspects were met by another man, who police said was armed with what appeared to be a black, semi-automatic handgun. Police said the man did not threaten to use the gun.

No injuries were reported and no suspects have been identified.
