SCRANTON — Authorities say a man was found dead after a fire in his northeastern Pennsylvania home.

Fire crews in Lackawanna County were sent to the south Scranton home at about 2 a.m. Saturday and reported heavy smoke pouring from the home.

Coroner Tim Rowland said 63-year-old John Novoczynski was pronounced dead at the scene about a half-hour later.

The cause and manner of death are pending results of an autopsy to be done later.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
