The Wyoming Valley could get a healthy dose of rain into the weekend.

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a slow-moving low pressure system will bring rain to the region on Thursday and into Friday. The area could see up to 2 inches of rain, but some areas could see higher amounts.

The heavy rain could cause minor poor drainage flooding in urban and low-lying areas.

No watches or warnings have been issued for Luzerne County.

The forecast

The National Weather Service indicated it was 69 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.

Patchy fog is possible before 10 a.m. today — otherwise, mostly cloudy skies will become gradually sunny. The high will be near 76.

Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a low around 52.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Thursday, and rain will be likely after 2 p.m. The rain could be heavy at times, and up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible. The high will be near 66.

Rain will continue to be likely into Thursday night, and it could be heavy at times. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the low will be around 57.

Rain is expected to round out the week on Friday, but no precipitation amounts have been predicted. The high will be near 63.

Rain will continue to be likely into Friday night, and the low will be around 42.
