WILKES-BARRE — A man facing charges for allegedly robbing a credit union in Kingston is now facing robbery charges in Wilkes-Barre.

Jonathan Fox, 25, is facing two robbery charges stemming from an alleged armed robbery at Dollar General.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to the store on South Main Street at 8:13 p.m. Sept. 28 for a reported robbery.

An employee reported to police that she opened the cash drawer as Fox tried to purchase candy. When the drawer opened, Fox allegedly displayed a black handgun, pointed it at the cashier and grabbed an unknown amount of money from the register.

Fox then allegedly fled the store on foot. Police said the surveillance system captured images of Fox during the alleged robbery.

Fox allegedly robbed the UFCW Federal Credit Union in Kingston the next day.

Investigators determined Fox’s description matched that of the suspect who allegedly robbed the Dollar General.

Officers interviewed Fox in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility Oct. 11 when he allegedly admitted to robbing the Dollar General. Fox reportedly told investigators he has an addiction to Oxycodone and needed money to support the addiction.

Fox also allegedly told investigators the handgun used was a black BB gun, and was the same one used in the alleged robbery at the credit union.

Fox was arraigned on his charges before Magisterial District Judge Rick Cronauer on Thursday, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Nov. 11.

His bail was set at $75,000 for the newest set of charges.
