PLAINS TWP. — A Wilkes-Barre man is facing 150 child pornography charges after police say they found more than 300 videos on a computer account belonging to him.
Nathaniel Butler Galloway, 27, of North Pennsylvania Avenue, was charged in front of District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo on Tuesday. In addition to the child pornography charges, Galloway faces eight counts of dissemination of child pornography and one count of criminal use of communication.
According to a police affidavit:
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received information about Galloway’s Dropbox account, which had 339 videos depicting suspected child pornography.
Through the American Registry for Internet Numbers, Luzerne County detectives prepared a court order to retrieve the internet protocol address for the account, which was registered to Clem Mar House Inc., in Edwardsville, where Galloway was residing when the videos were stored.
Galloway admitted to investigators he created and installed the Dropbox account years ago and that he had been viewing child pornography for more than 10 years. During a conversation with investigators, Galloway stated he used the social networking site Tumblr and the mobile phone application Kik to share images.
He allegedly told investigators he viewed, disseminated and downloaded only when he was bored, and he did so for sexual gratification.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in front of District Judge Paul Roberts. Galloway is being held in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
