WILKES-BARRE — A man accused of stabbing another man inside a grocery store in November was apologetic at his preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Kenneth Turner, 57, of Lafayette Street, appeared before District Judge Rick Cronauer for the hearing.

Turner, who is free on bail, was apologetic to both Cronauer and the arresting officer.

“That’s not me at all,” Turner said. “I have no idea what happened.”

Turner later waived to county court his charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possessing an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said officers were dispatched to Save A Lot on South Main Street at 1:37 p.m. Nov. 10 for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers allegedly saw staff members struggling to restrain Turner, and he was placed into custody.

The victim, a 20-year-old male, was taken by medics to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries to his forearm, neck and face.

Turner is scheduled for formal arraignment at 9 a.m. Feb. 9 in the Luzerne County Courthouse.
