WILKES-BARRE — A man is facing charges after he allegedly jumped onto a vehicle in a failed attempt to prevent it from being towed.

Police said officers responded to an area on Murray Street at 12 p.m. Tuesday to assist parking enforcement with towing a vehicle that was in violation of a city ordinance.

During the tow, police allege the vehicle owner’s brother Kevin Southerland, 32, became belligerent and claimed officers could not tow the vehicle without a warrant.

Southerland then allegedly jumped onto the vehicle before being taken into custody and moved away from the vehicle.

Southerland was cited for disorderly conduct, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
