WILKES-BARRE TWP. — The weather may have been damp and raining, but the spirits of young and old were far from miserable as hundreds visited the Mohegan Sun Area for the first night of Disney on Ice: Passport to Adventure, which runs there through Monday.
Though it was drizzling while Kayla Schinse and her friends waited in line to get in, Schinse said the mood around the arena was “super exciting.”
Schinse, 19, of Wilkes-Barre, wanted to see the characters from Beauty and the Beast, but she’s most partial to “Frozen.”
“That’s my favorite part of the show,” she said.
Several children were in costume, most of them dressed as Elsa and Anna, the main characters from “Frozen.”
Amy Rohrbach, of Lake Township, brought her twin daughters as a late Christmas present.
Shannon and Erin Rohrbach, both 8, were dressed as Elsa. While Erin was excited to see her favorite princess “do twirls” on the ice; Shannon hoped to see Olaf, the comedic snowman from ‘Frozen.’
“I’m pretty sure he’ll fall,” Shannon quipped making light of Olaf’s several misfourtunes during the movie.
23-year-old Matt Elmy, of Sugar Notch, brought his fiancee, Mary Kate Suda, to the show as a “pre-Disney trip.” The couple is going to Florida in the near future.
“I am excited to experience this show with my fiancee because she loves Disney,” he said, noting they wanted to see “The Lion King.”
Jaelyn Berry, 11, of Blakely, agreed with Elmy. “I want to see Simba,” Berry said.
Nevah Detrick Foster, 9, came with Berry. It was a birthday gift for Detrick Foster, who turns 10 on Friday.
“I’m pretty excited,” the birthday girl said. “Everyone should come.”
