WILKES-BARRE — A Scranton man was taken to the hospital after his tractor trailer rolled down an embankment Monday afternoon.
According to Pennsylvania State Police on scene, Julian Lynch had just picked up a load of 38,000 pounds of Monster Energy drinks at the Lion Brewery, when he was attempting to get on the North Cross Valley Expressway and misjudged the ramp to the expressway.
The call came out around 2:15 p.m., police said.
Preliminary reports suggest speeding was the cause of the accident, which closed the ramp to the southbound lane of the expressway. State police expect traffic violations to be filed.
Wilkes-Barre police and ambulance as well as Trans-Med ambulance was on scene. Lynch was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, for treatment after he self-extricated from the wreck.
Four Falzone Towing wreckers and a flatbed righted the truck more than two hours after the crash occurred.
According to Geisinger, Lynch was treated and released overnight.
The road was closed for several hours into the mid-evening.
