PITTSTON — A Pittston man sent sexually explicit messages to two underage girls and exchanged inappropriate photos with them, according to police.

Bruce Carey, 29, is facing charges for allegedly having inappropriate contact with the two minor females in the fall of 2016.

Court documents also indicate he is facing similar, unrelated charges out of Wyoming County.

According to the criminal complaint:

Officer Dustin Cokely of the Tunkhannock Police Department was able to obtain messages between Carey and two minor female victims.

In an interview with police, one of the victims said Carey contacted her and the other victim through chat applications in the fall of 2016. The victim then said Carey got in touch with her separately and started making sexual references and sending sexually explicit photos to her.

Carey then told the victim he was turning 18 in a few weeks, and that he was from the Pittston area. The second victim reported receiving similar messages from Carey, and that he would send sexually graphic messages depicting the acts.

One of the victims told investigators she informed Carey of her age.

The first victim admitted to sending Carey inappropriate photos, and that Carey would in turn send inappropriate pictures of himself.

Officers executed a search warrant on Carey’s residence on Morgan Lane in Pittston. During an interview with police during the search, Carey allegedly admitted to chatting with both of the victims using chat applications and to exchanging inappropriate photos with them.

Carey also allegedly told investigators that he knew they were minors, but said he would drink alcohol while chatting with them and “forget about their age.”

Investigators said Carey admitted to deleting the photos and chats from his iPhone, but investigators found “numerous” images of one of the victims in the Dropbox application of his phone.

Carey faces charges of sexual abuse and criminal use of a communication facility.

In a separate matter, court documents indicate Carey faces charges of criminal attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, child pornography, unlawful contact with minor, sexual abuse of a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, and corruption of minors out of Wyoming County.

A criminal docket could not be immediately found for Carey for his charges in Luzerne County.
