Pittston resident Matthew Vough has announced he is running for Luzerne County Council as a Democrat.

Vough, 24, graduated from the Scranton Preparatory School in 2010 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Scranton in 2014.

He is employed as marketing manager at Keystone Automotive Operations Inc. in Exeter.

“In my current role as a marketing manager at Keystone Automotive Operations, I am tasked daily with being creative and diligent — both qualities I want to bring to the county council,” Vough said in his announcement. “We need to use our creativity to present fresh ideas and be diligent in execution of these ideas.”

Vough also has volunteered as a youth basketball instructor at the Pittston YMCA.

Born and raised in the area, Vough said he always wanted to get involved in his community and chose to stay here after graduating from college.

“I found a great job at a great company and recently purchased a home. I would like to raise a family in this area the same way I was raised. I want to help improve the county any way I can,” he wrote.
