Temperatures are expected to climb back up into the 50s and 60s this week, and the region could also see some showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 27 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Clouds are expected to increase today, with a high near 52. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 37.

Partly sunny skies will kick off the day on Tuesday, but showers are likely after 2 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the high will be near 58.

Cloudy skies will carry over into Tuesday night, along with a 50 percent chance of showers. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 51.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms are possible as the day starts on Wednesday, and are likely after 1 p.m. No precipitation amounts have been predicted. The high will be near 66.

Showers and a possible thunderstorms will continue to be likely before 1 a.m. on Wednesday night, followed by a chance of rain overnight. The low will be around 38.
