WILKES-BARRE — Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a stabbing that allegedly occurred early Tuesday morning.

Police said officers responded to a residence on Alexander Street at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday for a reported stab victim.

The victim, a 34-year-old Hispanic male, had a stab wound to his chest, according to police.

The victim was released after receiving medical treatment, and identified Omar Longinos-Guzma, 29, of Wilkes-Barre, as the man that allegedly stabbed him.

Officers were able to locate Longinos-Guzma, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Longinos-Guzma’s citizenship status was questionable, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified.

Longinos-Guzma was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for arraignment, and police said ICE are initiating deportation proceedings.
