PITTSTON — A man accused of exchanging sexually explicit pictures with two underage girls is heading to county court on charges.

Bruce Carey, 29, appeared before Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz for a preliminary hearing Wednesday. He waived 10 counts of child pornography onto county court.

A single count of criminal use of a communication facility was withdrawn.

Court documents also indicate he is facing similar, unrelated charges out of Wyoming County.

According to the criminal complaint:

Officer Dustin Cokely of the Tunkhannock Police Department was able to obtain messages between Carey and two minor female victims.

In an interview with police, one of the victims said Carey contacted her and the other victim through chat applications in the fall of 2016. The victim then said Carey got in touch with her separately and started making sexual references and sending sexually explicit photos to her.

Carey then told the victim he was turning 18 in a few weeks, and that he was from the Pittston area. The second victim reported receiving similar messages from Carey, and that he would send sexually graphic messages depicting the acts.

One of the victims told investigators she informed Carey of her age.

The first victim admitted to sending Carey inappropriate photos, and that Carey would in turn send inappropriate pictures of himself.

Officers later allegedly uncovered images on the Dropbox application of his phone.

In a separate matter, court documents indicate Carey faces charges of criminal attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, child pornography, unlawful contact with minor, sexual abuse of a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, and corruption of minors out of Wyoming County.
