SCRANTON — Families spent Sunday morning dancing with Mickey and Minnie, taking pictures with the Easter Bunny and searching for eggs at the Eggcellent Easter Party at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Scranton.

The event, hosted by Party2ya, was a chance for families to have some spring-themed fun together in the area, owner Laura Reahm said.

Party2ya is a rental company based in Moscow that provides bounce houses, concessions, air tents, tables and chairs, as well as character appearances. Reahm said they decided to start hosting events at the hotel in order to fulfill a need in the community.

“We just thought the area needed something for kids,” she said.

The sold-out party included a breakfast buffet, pictures with the Easter Bunny, visits from characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as well as a DJ and an egg hunt. While waiting for their turn in the hunt, children danced with Mickey and Minnie, gathering around to grab photos with the couple.

The Easter party was the third event the company has held at the Hilton, and another event is lined up for April. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the company website, and there are also giveaways for tickets on the company Facebook page.

For Erica Castaldo, of Roaring Brook Township, the event provided a “family friendly” activity for her son, Cameron, 3. This was the second Party2ya event they had attended and Erica said both the company and the Hilton do a great job.

“Everything is so organized and the staff is great,” she said.

Erica said the party provided a “safe environment for kids.”

“I think it’s excellent,” she said.

As for Cameron, he was eagerly waiting for his favorite part of the morning: a picture with the Easter Bunny.

The next event, which is carnival themed, will be held April 30 at the Hilton.
