WILKES-BARRE — Two juveniles and one adult are facing charges after police allege they robbed a man at gunpoint.
The victim, identified as a 23-year-old man, reported to police at 7:23 p.m. Saturday that he contacted Anthony Nelson Smith, 19, of Plymouth, to arrange a meeting to buy synthetic marijuana oil and a pack of cigarettes.
Police said the two men arranged to meet in the parking lot at McDonald’s on Northampton Street. Smith arrived with two juveniles males, according to police.
The victim reported that he got into Smith’s vehicle, and that Smith and the juvenile males tried to sell him fake oil, and he turned it down. When the victim pulled out his money to pay for the cigarettes and give Smith gas money, one of the juveniles allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded all of the money.
The victim gave the juvenile $300 cash and got out of the vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene, according to police.
Police said officers in Sugar Notch stopped the vehicle a short time later, and city officers arrived on the scene and took the three suspects into custody.
Officers also allegedly found two airsoft pistols inside the vehicle.
Smith and the two juvenile males were transported to city headquarters where they were processed.
Smith faces charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, simple assault, and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
