Temperatures are expected to plummet today, but will gradually climb again as the week goes on.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 28 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and mostly cloudy skies were reported. Wind gusts of up to 36 mph were also reported.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, along with isolated snow showers before 10 a.m. Winds could also gust as high as 34 mph. The high will be near 26.

Mostly clear skies are predicted for tonight, with a low around 12.

Thursday will bring sunny skies, along with a high near 38. Clouds will increase into Thursday night, with a low around 38.

Cloudy skies will round out the week on Friday, along with a chance of snow, rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 8 a.m. and a chance of rain or freezing rain between 8 a.m. and noon. Rain is expected after noon, but no overall precipitation amounts have been predicted. The high will be near 43.

Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, along with a 30 percent chance of rain. The low will be around 42.
