WEST PITTSTON — A man is facing charges after police say he was found inside the fenced area of a towing company, and subsequently led police on a foot pursuit.

As Trevor Ashworth, 23, of Harding, allegedly led police on the pursuit, two officer sustained injuries.

According to the criminal complaint:

Officers were dispatched at 12:38 a.m. Thursday to the area of 840 Exeter Avenue for a report of a suspicious male looking inside vehicles and going through them.

Upon police arrival, the male, later identified as Ashworth, fled from inside the fenced area of Bovani’s Towing Service.

A patrol officer from the Exeter Borough Police Department arrived on the scene, and was advised that Ashworth was running through the snow, jumped over a fence, and ran behind a garage.

Officers were then able to take him into custody.

Sgt. Michael Turner of the West Pittston Police Department sustained a minor injury to his right leg, and another patrolman sustained an injury to his leg and hand. Both officers were taken to a hospital for treatment.

During an interview with police, Ashworth allegedly told police that his vehicle was impounded and being held at Bovani’s. He then allegedly told police he was there to get belongings from the vehicle, but acknowledged he was not supposed to be there.

Police also allegedly found a small amount of marijuana in his jacket pocket while he was at police headquarters.

Ashworth faces charges of defiant trespass, loitering or prowling at night, possession of marijuana, and recklessly endangering another person. He was arraigned on his charges before District Judge Rick Cronauer on Thursday.

Ashworth is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Carmody at 9 a.m. on April 5.

Ashworth is free on $2,500 unsecured bail.
