WILKES-BARRE — Police say a Crestwood student caught with a knife on school property forgot it was in his vehicle.
Seth Jordan Edwards, 18, was charged after an investigation into smoking marijuana led officials to search his vehicle, which was parked at Crestwood High School.
According to a criminal complaint:
Wright Township officers met with Principal Christopher Gegaris, Assistant Principal Joe Delluso, Edwards, and Edwards’ parents at 9:10 a.m. Jan. 9. Delluso reported that Edwards was in class when a teacher smelled the odor of marijuana on him.
Edwards admitted to smoking marijuana at home before school.
The teacher notified Delluso, and Edwards’ mother was contacted.
Edwards was then searched by Delluso, and Delluso and Gegaris then searched Edwards’ vehicle.
Edwards told Delluso and Gegaris there were two lighters in the center console, and he forgot that an orange knife with a 3.5-inch blade was also in the console.
Delluso turned the knife over to police.
Court documents indicate Edwards faces a single misdemeanor count of possessing a weapon on school property. The charge was filed Wednesday.
