KINGSTON — A woman accused of participating in a drug-distribution network that ran heroin and crack cocaine from New York City to this area has now been indicted by a federal grand jury.

Shavonne Saxon, 29, Kingston, was indicted Tuesday on drug trafficking and firearms counts.

Saxon’s residence on Bowman Avenue was raided earlier this month, and police said they found approximately 220 grams of cocaine plus a handgun.

The indictment alleges that Saxon possessed a firearm in furtherance of her drug trafficking. As a convicted felon, she is also prohibited from having a gun, authorities said.

At the time of her arrest April 13, officers said they were able to track down Saxon after she dropped a bag containing a white substance while leaving United Check Cashing in Edwardsville in March. Authorities said another customer reported the bag to employees, and police later identified it as 14 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale.

In mid-February, authorities arrested 10 suspects for their alleged roles in the same drug operation that Saxon is accused of participating in.

Saxon, who goes by the alias of “Queeny,” was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Diana Malast on Wednesday, but it was continued until May 10.
