SUGARLOAF TWP. — A man from western Pennsylvania was killed in a crash Wednesday on Interstate 80 involving a tractor-trailer.

State police were dispatched to I-80 westbound near the Conyngham/Nescopeck exit just before 7 p.m.

Police said a 2000 Subaru Outback operated by Krispen Jacob Kriner, 36, of Butler, traveled off the left side of the highway while headed west.

The Subaru reportedly went onto the shoulder, struck a guardrail, and returned to the travel lanes where it collided with a rig driven by Marufjon Musurmonov, 24, of Philadelphia.

Police said Kriner was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Hallah Sbita, 32, of Montrose, Colorado, was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Rig driver Musurmonov was not hurt.

I-80 was closed for three hours due to the crash, which remains under investigation.
