FREELAND — The wife of a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor for several years has now been charged herself for not reporting the alleged abuse.

Clyde Solt, 57, of Alvin Street, Freeland, is charged with inappropriately touching and abusing the girl since she was 8.

Investigators say Christina Solt was aware he was sexually assaulting a child but never brought the matter to law enforcement.

Authorities caught on to Mr. Solt after he reached out to therapists to seek help, court papers say.

According to a criminal complaint filed against the wife:

In an interview with police May 5, Mrs. Solt admitted the child did tell her of the inappropriate contact made by Mr. Solt.

She said she confronted Mr. Solt, and he told her he was sorry and would not do it again.

But there was another instance of alleged abuse, and Mrs. Solt said she screamed at Mr. Solt and demanded he leave their home.

Mrs. Solt also told investigators she remembers Mr. Solt inappropriately touching a minor child at one point in the past, but could not remember any details.

Mrs. Solt faces charges of endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. She was arraigned before District Judge Thomas Malloy on Monday, and she is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Daniel O’Donnell at 9 a.m. May 22.

She is jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.

Mr. Solt was locked up earlier this month for lack of $250,000 bail.
