Heavy rain is expected to stick around the Wyoming Valley throughout the rest of today.

Sunshine, however, should return to the region by Saturday.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 69 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and heavy rain was reported.

Showers are likely today, along with some possible thunderstorms. Some storms could produce heavy rain. Up to three quarters of an inch of rain could fall. Today’s high will be near 79.

Showers will continue to be likely before 11 p.m. tonight, along with a few thunderstorms. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will linger overnight, along with mostly cloudy skies. Up to a quarter of an inch of total rainfall is possible, but more could fall in thunderstorms. The low will be around 64.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, along with a slight chance of showers before 3 p.m. The high will be near 82.

Partly cloudy skies will follow into Saturday night, with a low around 63.

Mostly sunny skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 85.

Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Sunday night, along with a slight chance of showers. The low will be around 65.
