FOSTER TWP. — State police are investigating a crash that killed a man early Friday morning.

Police said sometime between midnight and 12:10 a.m. Friday, George Thomas Durange Jr., 43, of Freeland, was driving a Chevrolet S10 south on Highland Road.

Durange’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, causing heavy disabling damage to the front portion of its driver side, according to police. Police said Durange was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side door as a result of the impact.

The vehicle then came to a final stop on the side of the roadway.

Durange was pronounced dead at the scene by Luzerne County Deputy Coroner Gerald Jones.
