WASHINGTON — Congressman Lou Barletta has announced that two local fire departments will receive a total of $322,620 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program. The Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Company will receive a $225,477 grant, and the Kunkle Fire Company in Dallas will get a grant for $97,143.

“As a former mayor, I know how critical it is to fund public safety programs, and these FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants will help Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Company and Kunkle Fire Company provide vital safety and security for their residents and the firefighters themselves,” Barletta said in a statement.

Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles and training.
