North Branch Land Trust will hold the first-ever “Gathering at the River” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 at its Howland Preserve located on the Vosburg Neck 5 miles west of Tunkhannock.

Master folk-singer Don Shappelle will perform a two-hour benefit concert from1 to 3 p.m..

Food will be offered by Fire & Ice. Event activities include kayaking demonstrations, guided hikes of the new trails, art vendors, outdoor games, kids’ activity led by Endless Mountain Nature Center and tours of the ongoing renovation of the 19th century barn and house. A kayak raffle, other raffles and a silent auction will be held.

Suggested donation at the door is $15 and participants are asked to bring their own chairs.
